A few things of note as well that are often asked.  The process time in Tampa varies, due to it being a really busy jail and fairly large.  It can take anywhere from One to Eight hours, but our experience has allowed us to judge at about 4-5 as being typical and correct.  All bail Bonds in Tampa, and statewide are 10% of the bond total.  No agent can lower or raise this, and to do so is in violation of state regulations.  If the defendant misses their court date, its called a forfeiture, and then becomes the indemnitor's responsibility to ensure that we, as Bondsmen, find the defendant.  A warrant for their arrest will be issued.

So, keep these few things in mind when calling our offices, and you'll see exactly how easy using the Tampa Bail Bonds system really is.

Why use a bail bondsman rather than paying cash bond?
Our agents get asked this question all the time and the answer is simple.  When you pay a cash bond to the jail, before it is returned, the county will subtract any and all fines and other court costs associated with the case out of cash bonds before the money is return.  Many times, the Indemnitor would like to leave the court costs up to the defendant to pay.  When using a bail bondsman, no fines or court costs are deducted.

What is the difference between a surety bond and a purge?
A surety bond is the same thing as a bail bond and is in reference to criminal cases.  A purge usually has to do with civil cases, child support mainly.  You cannot use a bail bondsman to post a bail bond on a purge.  The full amount of the purge has to be paid directly to the jail to release the defendant.

What are the roles of the Indemnitor and the principal during the Tampa bail bond process?

As the Indemnitor, you are held financially responsible for the full bond amount until the the case is disposed.  As the Indemnitor, you should keep in close contact with the Principal (defendant) to ensure him/her are making their court dates.

As the defendant, you need to make sure that you attend any and all court dates.  In addition, the judge may have ordered additional responsibilities that you will have to make sure you stay on top of.
